Interpreting in a K-12 setting can feel isolating. K-12 interpreters are tasked with making multiple decisions daily that impact the success and outcomes of our DHH students. Educational interpreters need focused guidance in order to make responsible decisions. NAIE has created two documents to assist in that process.

The goal of this Community of Practice (CoP) is to introduce the National Association of Interpreters in Education (NAIE) Code of Ethics and NAIE Professional Guidelines. The presenter will share a few highlights within each document. Next, the presenter will open discussion to participants to determine what training gaps are present in the community and determine pointed workshop(s) and panels to support those gaps in the future. For the participants who bring examples to the CoP, the presenter will employ a DC-S format for all to use when talking through the specific situations.

This FREE Community of Practice (CoP) is open to all NVRID members. This professional studies program is offered for 0.2 CEU's, or 2 professional development hours at the "little/none" content knowledge level.
ASL Communications is an approved RID CMP Sponsor for continuing education activities. This workshop will be presented in spoken English.
