Description:

As interpreters, many of us experience the insecurity of Imposter Syndrome; the intrusive thoughts that tell us we aren't as good as our colleagues, or that we have failed our clients when we've made a mistake. This thought process can impact how we work, as well as how we implement and execute the CPC.

Please join us for a Community of Practice event to discuss how Imposter Syndrome hinders our work, the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset, and how to recognize our success, rather than fixate on our failures. Discussions will be fully interactive to facilitate interpersonal support and complex professional dialogue.

This Community of Practice event will benefit working educational interpreters, community interpreters, and interpreting students.

This event will be conducted in Spoken English with ASL Interpretation.

Participants will be able to:

  • Define Imposter Syndrome
  • Recognize how Imposter Syndrome impacts and hinders our work
  • List ways to overcome Imposter Syndrome
  • Define Growth Mindset and Fixed Mindset
  • Apply Growth Mindset to their work
