Like interpreting, self-care is a skill-based practice. We all know we are supposed to engage in self-care but may not know how. Or, we may know how but life gets in the way, again. Please join us for a community of practice event to discuss the importance of self-care, types of self-care activities that may benefit you, reducing or removing barriers to self-care practices, and the creation of an action plan for self-care. Discussions will be fully interactive, so be ready to provide your resources, learn from others, and, above all, laugh together!
Participants will be able to:
Describe the importance of self-care
List examples of self-care activities and specify those that may be of benefit to them
Describe barriers to participation in self-care and how to reduce or remove them
Create an action plan to incorporate or continue self-care in their routine
Presenter will facilitate discussion and utilize formative interactive assessment techniques (asking comprehension questions, asking for participants to demonstrate understanding through participation) throughout the discussion to understand what the participants are learning and where any gaps may be. Presenter will monitor and provide further discussion on what they have gathered through these formative assessment techniques. Participants will complete a summative evaluation at the conclusion of the workshop.
