Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Nevada Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (NVRID) to advocate for best practices in interpreting, professional development for practitioners, and for the highest standards in the provision of interpreting services for diverse users of languages that are signed or spoken.

Objectives

The principle objective of Nevada Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (NVRID) is to initiate, sponsor, promote, and execute policies and activities that will further the profession of the interpretation of American Sign Language (ASL) and English and the transliteration of English.

Additional objectives of NVRID are to:

  • As an affiliate chapter of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), adhere to the RID Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Provide professional development opportunities.
  • Provide the public with information and resources regarding the interpreting profession and related services.
  • Support the activities of Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing community organizations.
